Green River Cemetery
Green River cemetery is currently divided into 44 sections. Each section contains many numbered lots. Originally, the sections were not numbered, they were referred to using a descriptive name, like "Half Circle" or were referred to by a well known family plot in that section, like "Wells Plot." As newer sections were added, they were given letters or numbers, like "B" or "7", for identification. In 1993, all the sections were relabeled using the numbers 1-42 (now 1-46). Wooden posts were added to mark each section in the cemetery.
Almost everyone buried in this cemetery also has a memorial on the Find A Grave website. They provide a searchable database, which is available free of charge. Any plot locations you see on "find-a-grave" are referring to these new section numbers. If you are trying to locate a particular grave, try searching the Find A Grave website to get the section number, then look at the corresponding detailed map below to find the lot.
The detailed section maps show the lot numbers as well as the last name of the original lot owner.
